सरफरोशी की तमन्ना अब हमारे दिल में है,
देखना है जोर कितना बाजुए कातिल में है ।

करता नहीं क्यों दुसरा कुछ बातचीत,
देखता हूँ मैं जिसे वो चुप तेरी महफिल मैं है ।

रहबर राहे मौहब्बत रह न जाना राह में,
लज्जत-ऐ-सेहरा नवर्दी दूरिये-मंजिल में है ।

यों खड़ा मौकतल में कातिल कह रहा है बार-बार,
क्या तमन्ना-ए-शहादत भी किसी के दिल में है ।

ऐ शहीदे-मुल्को-मिल्लत मैं तेरे ऊपर निसार,
अब तेरी हिम्मत का चर्चा ग़ैर की महफिल में है ।

वक्त आने दे बता देंगे तुझे ऐ आसमां,
हम अभी से क्या बतायें क्या हमारे दिल में है ।

खींच कर लाई है सब को कत्ल होने की उम्मींद,
आशिकों का जमघट आज कूंचे-ऐ-कातिल में है ।

ਕੀ ਪੁਚਦੇ ਹੋ ਹਾਲ ਫਕੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ, ਸਾਡਾ ਨਦੀਓ ਵਿਛੜੇ ਨੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ।
ਸਾਡਾ ਹੰਜ ਦੇ ਜੁਨੇ ਆਇਆਂ ਦਾ, ਸਾਡਾ ਦਿਲ ਜਲਿਆ ਦਿਲਗੀਰਾਂ ਦਾਂ ॥

ਏ ਜਾਣਦੇਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਜੲੇ, ਰੁੰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਏ ।

ਸਾਨੂੰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਨ੍ ਲੱਭ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਇਕ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ।
ਕੀ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੁਕਦ੍ਦਰ ਸੀ, ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦਿਆਂ ਚਾਰ ਲਕੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ॥

ਤਕਦੀਰ ਤਾਂ ਅਪਣੀ ਸੌਕਣ ਸੀ, ਤਦਬੀਰਾਂ ਸਾਥੌਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਇਆਂ ।
ਨਾਂ ਝੰਗ ਝੁਟਿਟ੍ਆ ਨਾ ਕੰਨ ਪਾਟੇ, ਝੁੰਡ ਲੰਗ ਗਿਆ ਇੰਜ ਹੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਗੀਤ ਵੀ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਣੇਂਦੇ ਨੇ, ਨਾਲੇ ਕਾਫਿਰ ਆਖ ਸਦੇਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।
ਮੈਂ ਦਰਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬਾ ਕਹ੍ ਬੈਠਾ, ਰੱਬ ਨਾਂ ਰੱਖ ਬੇਠਾ ਪੀੜਾ ਦਾ ॥

ਤੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਲ੍ ਆਖਦਾ ਏਂ, ਮੈਂ ਖੂਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਸ਼ਿਕ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
ਇਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ, ਕਿਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਨੇ ਦੇਦੇਂ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ॥

This is business not sports

New England Patriots traded away one of their best players to Minnesota Vikings. Why would team with championship ambitions do so? I find it strange that a highly profitable franchise like New England Patriots is unable to pay top dollars to a very talented player. After all he was part of one of the most dangerous offence in the league. My guess is they didn't want to offer him a hefty contract.

I suspect they don't have any championship ambitions. They are worried about profitability. Players' and coaches' salaries constitute major investment for any sports franchise. Ticket sales, advertisements and merchandise along with the share of television rights make up for returns on that investment. Winning or not winning championships doesn't change that. Otherwise Washington Redskins won't be that rich.

Winning is important in the sense, it cements fan loyalty. Fans ultimately are the customers who buy season tickets, t-shirts and television packages. A decade of miserable performances has turned away lot of Buffalo Bills fans. But then Ralph Wilson Jr. is over 90. He most likely doesn't have any ambitions, business or otherwise.

As much as I like the American Football, I hate NFL.
